Lexington, KY - April 5, 2021 - The National Horse Show (NHS), scheduled to return to the Alltech Arena of the Kentucky Horse Park for its 2021 edition from October 27 to November 7, is excited to announce three new opportunities for equitation and hunter athletes, including an expansion of an existing championship and additions of new opportunities.
“The 2020 National Horse Show was a great success because of the outpouring of support, we are thrilled to be able to expand upon the classes and championships we offer at the 2021 National Horse Show,” said Jennifer Burger, President of the National Horse Show.
For adult equitation riders, we are now offering two separate Taylor Harris Insurance Services Adult Finals, one for riders 18-24 and another for those riders 25 and Over. Each championship will continue to include a preliminary round, a flat phase, and a final round featuring a minimum of fifteen riders. Esteemed judges will select a Champion and Reserve of each age group, and riders will receive ribbons through tenth place.
For hunter riders, Juniors and Amateurs competing at the 3’3” fence height will now be eligible to participate in the prestigious $50,000 Hunter Classic. Invitations to compete in the prestigious class will be extended to the Champion and Reserve Champion horse and rider combinations of hunter sections that competed over jumps at the 3'3" height or higher earlier in the week.
As entirely new additions to the schedule, the inaugural $10,000 3’ Children’s Hunter Classic and $10,000 3’ Adult Hunter Classic will make their debut at the 138th edition of the historic event. Entries will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis, limiting the number in each Classic to 25.
